I have had a problem recently. I have turned into a liar. A big lying liar. The biggest lying liar that ever lied.
I have an excuse, however. I also have largely overcome my problem. You see, I turned to deceit because I needed to keep quiet about the news that Highwire Improv will move into our first physical location later this year.
I didn't want to tell people we didn't have an obvious solution for some questions about upcoming events. I had to give them mealy-mouthed answers instead of saying, "we will have our own space later this year, and that problem will be solved."
But now I have broken free of that burden. We announced on Monday we will move into our first home and will provide more details this weekend at a community meeting.
We have had so much fun and a little bit of stress on the way to these important moments. But the beauty of our leadership group is that we all lean on each other and work together in such an important way. We asked the right questions of each other and even knew when to pull back until we found the right solution.
I cannot wait to share some, but maybe not all because some things are still developing, of the details this weekend.
I can't wait to sit in couches in our lounge area. I can't wait to feel the energy of an audience waiting in our showroom. I can't wait to linger too long after a show talking with friends.
I just can't wait. And that's no lie.
